First, DOMINION will send a professional exterminator to execute the initial inspection and trap setting service. The inspection will produce a written report with a property sketch that shows all of the ways the rodents are able to get into your house and what may be attracting them. It will also show how to remedy those issues. Then, 7-14 days after the initial visit, a follow up service will be done to execute the one hour of repairs and service the traps. Not to worry, if an emergency arises, just call the office for emergency service sooner. It doesn't cost anything extra! On that first follow up visit, the exterminator will determine if and when more follow-ups visits are needed. If they are needed, it is included! If you choose the Home Protection Plan Service, once all of the rodents have been removed from the house and the house has been sealed, we will execute and maintain a professional rodent baiting and monitoring program. This will ensure the rodents that live outside can't come back in and do not have a chance to establish themselves in or around your structure.

- DOMINION provides experienced professionals. They know rodents and they know homes. Your pest professional will know how to find the active entry points and will be able to project what future rodents will do to try and get in once that is repaired. The goal of the initial inspection of your home and its surroundings is to conquer the 3 key issues of a rodent infestation:
  1. What is attracting the rodents to your home?
  2. How are they getting in (or how might the get in once we fix the existing entry points) & how can we fix the entry point(s)?
  3. How can we exterminate the rodents that are invading your home?

Once we have determined what is attracting the rodents to your home, how they are getting in and how we can effectively exterminate them, we can design a plan to keep them out for good based on your structure's specific situation.

- Guaranteed entry point repair. DOMINION is a fully licensed, bonded and insured general contracting company. Our service professionals are very creative about finding unobtrusive, yet effective ways of keeping rodents out of your home. DOMINION is your solution offering guaranteed extermination, proofing, clean up and restoration services.

- Trapping. We have found that the best way to ensure removal of the rodents from your home is to trap them. Using baits and poisons in your home is not acceptable. DOMINION's pest professionals know just how to make sure every last rodent is exterminated and removed - not dead in the wall causing unhealthy and unbearable odors.

- Never again. Rodents are a natural, prevalent and persistent part of our ecosystem. Once DOMINION has exterminated all of the rodents in your structure and sealed all active and potential entry points, it is time to think ahead. Now that your structure is rodent free we need to install a baiting program outside to keep the outside population under control.

Common Rodents in Seattle/Bellevue/Everett Brief Bio:

In our area, we deal with 3 main rodents; Norway Rats, Roof Rats and Mice. Don't be fooled by their awkward cuteness. These guys are all carriers of blood borne pathogens and are very dangerous to the integrity of your home. A full grown rat, as a general rule can fit into any hole in your home the size of a quarter or bigger. Mice can fit into hole the size of a dime or bigger. Rodents will soil the insulation in your home, chew on the various utilities (pipes/wiring) and have cause your home to have unhealthy air quality. One thing they tend to do is soil the insulation on the outside of the air ducts. Since the ducts are warm in the winter and cool in the summer, they will nest and travel on top of the ducts going to the bathroom as they go. This is a known cause of allergies and weakened health due to contaminated air. Please visit cdc.gov for more information.

The following is a brief highlight of each kind of rodent including basic biology:

  1. Norway Rats

    - The body is generally about 8 inches long with a blunt nose and smaller ears and eyes. The Norway Rat is filthier and less choosy about its diet than the Roof Rat. Norway Rats tend to choose the low road. They like ground burrows and crawl spaces. One way to tell which kind you are dealing with is to notice the "bathroom habits". The Norway Rat will use the bathroom absolutely everywhere while the Roof Rat will leave his/her droppings closer to, even inside the nest.
  2. Roof Rats

    - A little smaller than the Norway Rat and usually smarter, too. The Roof Rat is about 7 inches long and the eyes and ears are a bit bigger. Roof Rats are a bit more choosy about what they eat. They like fruits, vegetables and nuts, but will eat meat if nothing else is available. Roof Rats tend to like higher places like trees and will walk across wires and plumbing and pipes in your home.
  3. Mice

    - Are much smaller than rats, at about 2 to 3 inches in length and less than an ounce in weight. Their droppings are significantly smaller than rat droppings. Most people think they have a mouse, but it is more likely in our area to have a rat. Sorry! An adult mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime. This makes a mouse infestation more difficult to control - especially in older homes that have settled and tend to have other issues with small breeches throughout the home.

Some things you can do to avoid making your house attractive to rodents are:

  1. Keep plant life away from the roof line and siding of your home.
  2. Make sure crawl space and soffet vents are secure.
  3. Keep animal food inside at all times.
  4. Keep dog droppings picked up.
